I’d like to introduce you to some friends of mine who are very special to me and have played a HUGE role in the missions that I have been able to take during the past year of my life.
I am not afraid to be blatantly honest in sharing that Alan and Emily Casada have literally been my biggest financial supporters since I became a missionary. More than once, they have stepped out in faith, trusting God in His call to make disciples of all nations by supporting my missions to Haiti. They have taught me so much about trusting God to provide.

To me, the beautiful thing about their obedience is that it’s an example of what it means to be the body of Christ. It’s the same reason I get so excited when people send me encouraging messages, care packages, or pray for me… because even though they can’t join me physically on this mission, they still play a very important role. It takes everyone living out each individual gift/talent/ability/blessing they’ve been given to accomplish Jesus’ command to make disciples.

Romans 12:4-8 says:
For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.

I would like to share with you a letter from Alan and Emily and ask you to seriously consider how the Lord is calling you to use your gifts. Please read their story, including how they were recently called to be missionaries in Mexico and a part of my mission here in Haiti, and allow the Lord to teach you how much He loves to provide for His children. Allow Him to teach you how it feels to step out in faith.

Thank you so much for joining me on this journey. I am SO THANKFUL for each and every one of you!

God bless!
-Elizabeth

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 4:6-7

We want to share with you some of the amazing things God has been doing in our lives.  In July, we went on a Mission Trip to Monterrey, Mexico with Back2Back Ministries.  While there we visited three different orphanages and a slum community along the river. God really opened our eyes to how much we have in comparison to the poor in other countries. And in contrast, how much faith they have compared to us. By the time we left, the children were fighting for turns to pray for us and thanking God for bringing us from so far away to play with them. One week there playing with the children, serving them food, pouring concrete for a new addition on the children’s home, singing with them and praying with them changed our whole perspective and we couldn’t wait to go back and serve in Mexico again.

So, we started saving money for another trip next year. We began reading all kinds of books about missionaries serving all over the world. We began praying for God to show us what he wanted us to do. One day during Alan’s quiet time in prayer, he kept praying for a sign, for guidance. Right after, when he opened up the computer and checked email, we had an email from Back2Back telling us about a trip to Mazatlan, Mexico in November and would we want to go…just a thought! We had expressed interested in serving in Mazatlan next year, because one children’s home there focuses on serving trafficked children. Due to Alan’s police work, he has a real interest in helping prevent child trafficking and the damage it causes. But, our plans were to go next year. Emily didn’t have enough vacation days left from work. So we were confused and continued to pray about it because we wanted to be obedient to His will.

As we’ve learned in other parts of our lives, God takes your plans and turns them completely upside down, so that you have to trust fully in him and not yourself.

After reading a book called Dreams and Visions, (which we highly recommend!) Emily prayed for a dream from God, so we would know what he wanted us to do.  She dreamt about a friend Elizabeth, currently on a year-long mission trip in Haiti. Emily was driving around with her, helping her to sell jewelry to fundraise for Elizabeth. Emily woke up and just thought it was a weird dream until Alan told her he had a dream that he was at an estate sale buying up all different kinds of foreign currency. Wow! So, we took this as a sign that God wanted us to give the money we had been saving for our trip and give it to Elizabeth. And we did! And it was amazing that God spoke to us, because we wouldn’t have donated the money on our own.

So, where did that leave us? Not sure. We were just waiting to follow God’s lead. But, the next week, after Emily got a glowing annual review at work, she felt it would be a good time to ask for the time off work to go on the November mission trip. Well, God opened another door and her very supportive boss, gave her the extra days off. So, here we are with a depleted savings account, trying to trust in God that this is what he’s called us to and he’s given us amazing friends like you to support us!

Please pray about supporting us financially on the trip and pray for our efforts to be fruitful to share Christ’s love with the children there. The trip is November 24-30 and the total cost of the trip is $2850. We already have set aside$700 that we will personally cover and are praying that we can trust God with the rest.

If you feel led to make a donation, please mail us a check payable to Back2Back Ministries and mail them to us. We’ll gather the checks and mail them in together. (If you’d like to be able to use this for charitable tax purposes, please don’t write our names on the check).

Thank you so much for your friendship, love, support, and prayers. We are extremely excited and will come back with stories and pictures to share with you of how God used all of you and us on this trip to bless the orphans in Mazatlan, Mexico.

Love,

Emily and Alan Casada
