“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” -Galatians 2:20

I am a 26-year-old occupational therapist living in Frankfort, Kentucky.

(Shew, how the heck did I end up here?!)

Last fall, I “started life over” as you could say, and have been blown away by God’s grace as He has been putting the pieces of my life back together (after a very difficult, short-lived marriage followed by an unwanted divorce). He has already shown me that my scars and battle wounds can be used for His glory. So instead of hiding life’s hurts and pains, I’m thankful to be able to share where I’ve come from and what I’ve been through because I know that God has a greater purpose for the trials I’ve faced.

For as long as I can remember, God has placed on my heart a love and passion for children – especially orphans. Now that I am working as a therapist and have worked with foster and orphan children, the desire to serve and love them has grown even stronger.

At first, I thought God was just calling me to adopt one day.

Now, while this is still true, I realize it’s even more than that.

God has called us to “make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19).

That doesn’t just mean in my neighborhood or in the comforts of my church… but to the ends of the earth, where people do not know the saving name of Jesus Christ.

There are millions of people on this earth who are orphans… people who do not know their Creator… people without knowledge of their Heavenly Father.

“But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.” – John 1:12

God is growing a passion within me, out of obedience and out of my heart’s desire, to make known the gospel to all nations. This journey is starting in San Pedro Sula, Honduras… and then, God willing, to Haiti later this year… and the rest is in His hands, a journey I pray will unfold before you, my family and friends…

God doesn’t need me in order to accomplish His will, but it is His desire that I am obedient to His calling.

I write this blog with the purpose in mind to invite my friends and family along for my journey of learning and growing through life the lessons God weaves in to life… not only in the “big” events, but in the small day to day joys and sorrows.

I hope that my reflections on battle wounds and God’s grace will be an inspiration to you… I pray that God will use my experiences in life for His glory… and that you, too, may accept your Creator as your Father, so that there may be one less orphan in the world!
